Long awaited in cPanel, there is an option in the cPanel “FILES” section to restore individual files by using the new “File Restoration” option. The cPanel introduce this feature in its latest version v68. The version 68 was released and one of the most exciting new features is restoring individual files from an account backup as both an end user and as a server administrator. Let’s see how it works in version 68.

How it works

If we configure WHM backup, each account backup will be generated at night. When account backups are taken, a file list is generated and stored in the backup folder for each account. Those file lists are used by the file restoration interfaces, allowing you to quickly and easily view the files available for restore.

Now make sure that your server has the latest version of cPanel. You can check the cPanel version by using below command.

cat /usr/local/cpanel/version

If it is not the latest version, you can upgrade to the latest version by running below command.

/scripts/upcp

Now follow the below steps to restore individual files via cPanel.

You should have the backup.

Before you can restore from an account backup, you must first have backups already made. If you have not available backup, first you need to configure a backup in WHM.

Please refer this link to configure backup in WHM https://www.fastycloud.com/tips/kb/whm-backup-configuration-explained/

If you are using shared hosting, please contact support and make sure you have the available backup.
