The ConfigServer MailScanner is a plugin for cPanel, which allows the users to configure the email scan for spam and viruses as their wish. This can be installed on a cPanel server easily. This plugin is a user-friendly web interface for managing the scanner, which provides a user front-end to a MailScanner installation on cPanel. It consists of 3 parts:
1) The Icon on individual cPanel account, through which every user can manage their settings, that modifies a file on their account. In which user can configure:
Per domain actions for two score levels for spam scanning
Per domain actions for two score levels for spam scanning
Per cPanel account whitelists and blacklists
Per cPanel account low and high score settings
Per cPanel account configurable forwarding email address for spam
2) A WHM web interface through which administrator can configure the settings server wide.
3) A command line tool, through which server administrator can manage MailScanner via command line.
Installation of Config Server MailScanner
1) The initial step is to make sure you don’t have ‘Clamavconnector’ installed on your server. If you already have then remove it from WHM > Add-on Modules.
Once it has been verified, login to your server via SSH as root user and downloads the package from their official website. You can run the below command to downloads the package and then extract the package.
$ wget https://download.configserver.com/msinstall.tar.gz
$ tar -xzf msinstall.tar.gz
2) Once you complete the extraction, you need to enter the extracted directory and then execute the installation script as given below.
$ cd msinstall
$ sh install.sh
3) Once you completed the installation, you need to uncheck “SpamAssassin Spam Filter” and “SpamAssassin Spam Box” in WHM Tweak settings. Also, need to uncheck the “spamd” boxes on WHM “Service Manager” section. Now you can manage the settings via Config Server MailScanner plugin via both WHM and cPanel.
4) If you ever want to uninstall the ConfigServer MailScanner from your server, you can follow the below simple steps. First, you need to enter the installation directory and execute the uninstallation script.
$ cd msinstall
$ sh uninstall.sh
