While running a website, sometimes adding PHP PEAR Packages may become an essential requirement. It may be needed to add extra strength to your server. You can do this very easily with the help of cPanel. In this documentation, we are going to see how to add PHP PEAR Packages to your website. Before that, we are going to see about PHP PEAR Packages. The PEAR stands for PHP Extensions and Applications Repository.
What is PHP PEAR Packages?
The PHP PEAR Packages are pieces of software or software components. They will be written in the PHP language since these software components are written in PHP language, they are called PHP PEAR Packages. These components will allow you to perform tasks in PHP. But before using a PHP program in cPanel, you will need to install it via this interface. As we’ve seen before, the PEAR stands for The PEAR stands for PHP Extensions and Applications Repository and the above mentioned PHP packages are needs to be installed from the same repository. With the PHP PEAR Packages interface, we can install it from the repository directly. The steps to do such installation is described in this tutorial.
We can do the following from this interface.
1) Search for PEAR Packages
2) View Available PHP Packages
3) Install PEAR Packages
Step 1
Login to cPanel.
You could login to the cPanel by appending the port to the domain name as shown below.
This will lead you to the cPanel login page. You could enter the username and password for the cPanel account to enter into the cPanel interface.
Step 2
Now go to the PHP PEAR Packages under “Software” section.
Now you would be lead to the screen where the options are listed and you could select from the desired options.
How to View Available Modules
To view available modules, you could click on the “Show Available Modules” button. You could also search for the extension.
How to View Installed Modules
We can also see the installed modules from this interface. To view this, please click on the button “Show System Installed Modules”. This will show you the installed modules. It is shown in the below screenshot.
When clicking on this button, you would be redirected to a page where you can see the installed modules. It will be looking like the below.
How to install PHP PEAR Packages?
To install a PHP PEAR Package, you need to click on the button Install now after finding the desired package. It is shown in the below screenshot.
