SpamAssassin is a software which is used for detecting spam messages by examining the content of an email message and assigns it an overall score. The score is based on the amount of spam-related traits that SpamAssassin finds within the message. If the message’s score exceeds a predefined limit, SpamAssassin discards it as spam. By enabling SpamAssassin to filter outgoing emails for spam it should limit this issue, and you don’t have to worry about emails getting bounced. In WHM, there is an option under exim configuration manager to scan outgoing messages for spam and reject based on defined SpamAssassin score. This option allows you to set the spam score threshold that SpamAssassin will use to determine when it will reject messages sent to non-local domains. In other words, it will scan and reject mail bound for non-local domains that Apache SpamAssassin™ classifies as spam.
1) Login to your WHM.
2) Go to the “Service Configuration” option.
3) Select “Exim Configuration Manager” from the page.
4) Choose “Basic Editor” option and select the “Apache SpamAssassin™ Options” tab.
5) Search for “Scan outgoing messages for spam and reject based on defined Apache SpamAssassin™ score”. This option is disabled by default. To enable this option, you need to select the button next to the empty text box.
6) Enter a number that SpamAssassin will use a minimum score to determine if mail is spam. Please note that the number you enter must be between 0.1 and 99.9.
7) Click on ‘Save” button to save the changes.
