Create Product Returns in OpenCart

Product returns are inevitable in the eCommerce field. If you are running an online store to sell physical products, there are chances that the product will be damaged while it is being shipped. Also, as your customer is buying only based on the reviews of other people and product images, there are chances that they won’t like the product they ordered. As a result, they return the product as they didn’t get what they wanted. That is why every eCommerce platform including OpenCart provides an interface to manage product returns.

Even the bigger stores like Amazon faces 5-15% product returns from customers. So, If you are running your eCommerce store in the region where people like to shop for products manually, you might face higher return rates.

But if you are using OpenCart, It is very easy to manage product returns. We can create and manage product returns until the product is back in the inventory or warehouse. In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to create and manage product returns in OpenCart.

Create Product Returns in OpenCart

In OpenCart, you can create new product returns directly from the admin panel. It is because if your customer is unable to create a return or you accept returns in the support department, you have to create new returns from the admin panel.

First of all, log in to the admin panel of your store. Then, click on the Sales option from the left sidebar. It is a drop-down menu that will show you many more options under the sales section.

From the drop-down menu, click on the Returns option to see a list of returned products.

On this page, you will see a Product return list. You can manage returns directly from this page. You can update the status as well as filter products to find the one you want to update. Management is fairly easy and you can understand the whole process just by accessing this page.

To create a new product return, click on the “+” button given on the top-right corner of the page. It does not contain any label, so, see the following screenshot to get an idea.

It will redirect you to a page where you will see a form to enter information about the product. Enter the important details like Order ID, Date, Customer’s name, email, and other required information about the product return.

Finally, click on the Save button as highlighted in the following screenshot to create a new product return in OpenCart.
